Walk Wheel Cycle Trust are collecting street-level imagery along traffic-free sections of the National Cycle Network in Cymru.
This information will be mapped onto platforms such as Google Streetview and Mapillary so that everyone can explore and plan routes safely.
What we capture and how we use it
We record audio-free, still images or video frames on the National Cycle Network in Cymru.
Sometimes, people and vehicles will be incidentally captured. These images are automatically blurred on the hosting platforms before publishing.
We do not attempt to identify individuals and efforts are made to minimise any incidental capturing of people and vehicles.
We will only keep this data for as long as needed to complete the mapping process.
Hosting platforms may retain blurred images for longer to support map continuity.
Lawful basis for processing
Walk Wheel Cycle Trust relies on legitimate interests to process the data before blurring.
We have assessed how our purpose to ensure traffic-free routes are available for everyone to navigate along the National Cycle Network balances with the privacy rights of people incidentally captured.
Your rights
If you believe an image identifies you, you may request additional blurring or removal.
Both Google Streetview and Mapillary provide built-in image reporting tools for this purpose, and you can contact them:
