Big Walk and Wheel is the UK’s largest inter-school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling challenge. It inspires pupils to make active journeys to school to improve air quality in their neighbourhood.

Big Walk and Wheel is in its 17th year, and 2026 marks the first time it’s being delivered under the charity's new name, Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (the new name for Sustrans).
We might have a new name for the charity, but Big Walk and Wheel is the same great challenge we run every year.

Who can take part?
All schools in the UK, including SEN/ALN/ASN schools, can take part in Big Walk and Wheel.
It’s free to register and easy to join.
Once registered, you'll have access to a school login to our Big Walk and Wheel portal.
Here you can log daily journeys, track your school's progress and earn virtual badges.
Compete with neighbouring schools and make every journey count.
