About the role
Team: Delivery/ Commercial
As the Solicitor for the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, you will provide legal advice and support across a range of areas, including property law, commercial contracts and governance. You will work closely with colleagues in delivery and business development teams, as well as external solicitors and partner organisations. The role involves explaining legal issues in a clear and practical way, helping the Trust meet its legal and contractual obligations, and supporting property and commercial projects to progress successfully. We are looking for someone who can build positive working relationships, communicate clearly with a range of audiences, and provide pragmatic legal advice that helps the Trust achieve its objectives.
The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust helps more people to walk, wheel and cycle safely, confidently and enjoyably. We work directly with communities to create positive change, then use what we learn to influence policies and improve opportunities for even more people. We call this people-powered movement.
As our Solicitor, you will provide clear legal advice that helps colleagues make informed decisions and deliver projects with confidence. Your support will help the charity develop new partnerships, secure funding and manage legal risks effectively.
You will play an important role in helping us support more people to travel actively and independently in their communities.
What You’ll Be Doing
Provide legal advice on commercial, property, governance and planning matters.
Draft, review and negotiate legal documents, including contracts, grant agreements, and land and property agreements.
Maintain legal templates and support colleagues to use them correctly and confidently.
Share legal knowledge and promote good practice across the charity.
Support the charity to meet its legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
Work with teams across the organisation to identify and manage legal risks.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively with others to solve problems and find practical solutions. You will be confident providing clear guidance and advice, helping colleagues make informed decisions and navigate complex situations.
This role would suit someone who is motivated by making a positive difference and who feels energised by working towards social change. If you want your legal expertise to support healthier, more active and connected communities, this could be the role for you.
