Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)
Manage your charitable giving over time by contributing to a fund and recommending grants to the causes you care about.
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a flexible way to plan and manage your charitable giving. You contribute to a charitable fund and can then recommend grants to the causes that matter to you over time.
If you hold a DAF, you can recommend a grant to Walk Wheel Cycle Trust and help make walking, wheeling and cycling possible for more people.
How does a Donor Advised Fund work?
You contribute to your DAF. Depending on the provider, this can be cash or other assets.
You recommend the causes you want to support and can give grants to eligible charities.
Your DAF provider makes the grant, carrying out the checks and sends the charitable grant to the organisation.
Why give through a DAF?
Greater flexibility: you can make charitable contributions now and recommend grants to causes you care about over time.
Bring your giving together: a DAF can provide one place from which to manage charitable giving to different organisations.
Reduce administration: your DAF provider handles the administration and due diligence associated with making grants.
Give in the way that suits you: depending on your provider, you may be able to make grants personally, as a family or organisation, or request anonymity.
DAFs can offer a tax-effective way to organise charitable giving.
Tax treatment depends on your circumstances and the type of gift, so we recommend speaking to your DAF provider, tax advisor or financial advisor for advice.
If you would like to support Walk Wheel Cycle Trust through your DAF, contact your provider and recommend a grant to Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
There are a number of DAF providers operating in the UK including:

Our Philanthropy team can explore opportunities with you and, where appropriate, work with your DAF provider or advisor to make your giving straightforward.
